Coeur d'Alene Symphony Orchestra concert Saturday night at North Idaho College

Join the Coeur d'Alene Symphony Orchestra for a night that celebrates family, music and the power of storytelling during the "Celebrating Family" concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Schuler Performing Arts Center on the North Idaho College campus.

Under the baton of Philip Baldwin, this special concert will feature a collaborative performance with the Coeur d'Alene High School Orchestra.

The evening will begin with a pre-concert lecture, "Dialogues with Danh: The Story Teller’s Art," at 6:30 p.m., presented by Baldwin and music therapist Judith Pinkerton. This insightful session will explore the evening's repertoire and discuss how music can profoundly impact mental health.

The program includes a diverse selection of pieces:

• "Ouverture de Joie" by Melody Hough
• "March from Aïda" by Giuseppe Verdi
• "The Wand of Youth, Suite No. 2" by Edward Elgar
• “Furiante” from "The Bartered Bride" by Bedřich Smetana
• "Suite on Fiddler’s Tunes" by George Frederick McKay
• Selections from "The Wizard of Oz" and "Wicked"
• "Liberty Bell March" by John Philip Sousa

Doors open at 6:15 p.m. All ages are welcome.

Tickets are $35 for adults, $25 for seniors 65 and older, $15 for military and students up to age 18 and free for children ages 0-5 and for youth ages 6-12 with a paying adult or senior.
