Pellet gun found at Sandpoint Middle School

SANDPOINT — An unloaded airsoft pistol was discovered in a student’s backpack during a routine search at Sandpoint Middle School on Wednesday morning.

In a Sandpoint Police Department Facebook post, Chief Corey Coon said no students were threatened or harmed and the weapon was never anywhere in the building except for the main office. 

Coon stated that SPD’s school resource officer and Lake Pend Oreille School District are working together to address the issue with the student and their family in compliance with district and school policies.
