Alarm misdial triggers police presence at Skyway Elementary

COEUR d'ALENE — A school lockdown notification received by Coeur d'Alene Police from Skyway Elementary School on Thursday turned out to be an accidental alarm.

The notification was received about 3:30 p.m. and four officers were on scene within minutes to assess the school and surrounding area for potential threats, according to a social media post from CDA Police. Police determined there was an accidental misdial of the alarm system. 

"If you noticed a large response from CDA Police it is because we take all of these calls very seriously to protect all of our loved ones," the post read. "Thankfully this was an accidental lockdown and there is no threat to the students, school or staff."
