PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Simon powers Lakeland past Lewiston

RATHDRUM – Senior Landree Simon poured in 28 points as the Lakeland Hawks defeated the Lewiston Bengals 53-45 in an Inland Empire League matchup between 5A schools Tuesday night on senior night at Hawk Court. 

Simon hit 12 of 14 free throws for Lakeland (11-4, 3-3 IEL), which travels to Moscow on Thursday. 

Addy McKarcher scored 18 points for Lewiston (6-10, 1-4).

Senior Kelsey Carroll scored 14 points for Coeur d’Alene (11-7, 6-0 IEL), which travels to Lake City on Thursday. 

Jacque Williams scored 12 points for Moscow (9-9, 2-4), which hosts Lakeland on Thursday.

Timberlake (15-2) travels to Grangeville on Thursday. 

Sandpoint travels to Lewiston on Friday.

KELLOGG — Dani Henrikson scored 15 points for the Wildcats in a nonleague win over the Wampus Cats at Andrews Gymnasium. 

“The girls played unselfishly, improved our offensive ball movement and spread out our scoring,” Kellogg coach Jana Nearing said.  

Freshman Aleah Philp had 10 rebounds, freshman Ella Yrjana four steals for Kellogg (6-8), which travels to St. Maries on Friday. 

Piper Scarlett scored nine points for Clark Fork (4-9), which faces Genesis Prep on Thursday at The Courts in Post Falls.
