DOG POOP: Pick it up

| January 22, 2025 1:00 AM

Forget turkeys. Y’all, we have a pawsitively stinkier problem. It always gets worse in winter — something about snow makes people think poop doesn’t stink — but we’ve hardly had a flake, and the doo-doo is already piling up.

I live in Fairway Forest, and what I saw on the sidewalk this morning was appalling. First, I noticed a pile in somebody’s yard — “what a shame,” I thought. But then, someone’s dog left a serious nuclear waste deposit in a neighbor’s bushes! Just sitting there, weighing down the branches. It felt almost personal. A few feet later, the sidewalk was littered with landmines! There was no avoiding it!

When I made my way to Prairie Trail, I narrowly avoided stepping in another mess. A quick glance along the path revealed three piles in a neat little row — someone marked their territory?

What is happening? This isn’t just a minor issue; it’s disrespectful and disgusting. We share these spaces, and it’s every dog owner’s responsibility to pick up after their pets. Last week, one of my neighbor’s saw me picking up after Jake the Dog and thanked me, he said his brother tracked some into his place from the yard. Gross.

No excuses. Get with it.
