Charlene M. Boyd
Charlene M. Boyd passed away Dec. 8, 2024. She was born in Wallace, Idaho, to Mary and Wylie Gardner. Charlene attended Washington State University from 1951 to 1955, graduating with a degree in registered nursing. She met her future husband, Gene K. Boyd, while attending WSU. They married in 1953 in Wallace, Idaho, and were together for 67 years. Charlene had six children and eight grandchildren.
Charlene worked as a nurse at St. Luke's Hospital in Spokane, Wash., for several years. She also worked in a doctor's office in Moses Lake, Wash. In 1971, Charlene and Gene purchased Coeur d'Alene Service Station Equipment. Charlene was the glue that held the business together during their years as owners. Their two older sons worked alongside them and continued the legacy after Charlene and Gene retired.
Charlene worked with other women leaders in the Coeur d'Alene community and was a member of Soroptimist International. In her retirement years, Charlene and Gene traveled extensively in an RV across the United States and Canada with their good friends. They also explored Europe, visiting ancestral sites. Charlene enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren grow into successful adults. She collected every newspaper clipping of her children's and their spouses' accomplishments, along with the grandchildren's achievements in life.
We are grateful for having a mother who was loving, wise, exemplified integrity, had a strong sense of humor and an uplifting spirit. "Kill 'em with kindness" was her motto. The family would like to thank Life Care of Post Falls for caring for Charlene.
Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, Gene K. Boyd, and her brother, Jack Gardner. She is survived by her children: Lori (Larry) Holstein, Don (Connie) Boyd, Linda (Dave) Robinson, Jon (Maree) Boyd, Paul (Sandra) Boyd and Phillip (Shelly) Boyd; grandchildren Wylie, Andrea, Emily, Hannah, Rachael, Kelsy, Chet and Erich.
Services for Charlene will be held at a later date.
