FIREWORKS: Legal ones are not the problem

In response to reading of councilor Wood’s solution to the out-of-control fireworks problem, I can only say...you have got to be kidding me. Setting up zones for people to use “safe and sane” (legal) fireworks has got to be a joke.

It’s like shooting a bb gun at Godzilla. No, it’s like shooting a bb gun at a gecko because, well, they’re both lizards.

Legal fireworks are not the problem. Pets and PTSD sufferers are not bothered by sparklers and smoke bombs. It is the abundant mortars, rockets, and other dangerous and highly explosive illegal fireworks in the hands of anyone who wants them. Why are there so many? Because everyone knows there is no penalty for having them or shooting them off. If you want to get serious about solving the problem, start there. Enforce the law. Seems like common sense.

Meanwhile, my neighbors are still not back in their home that was destroyed by these fireworks last Fourth of July.
