Updates completed on Post Falls lift station

POST FALLS — The Corbin lift station rehabilitation project came in under budget.

Project manager Jaxon Fleshman said Tuesday during a City Council meeting the project ended up costing $2.06 million compared to the 2023 estimate of $2.1 million.

"It doesn’t happen very often," Fleshman said.

The lift station design phase began in April 2022 and construction began in February 2024. Work was completed in September.

The original lift station was implemented in 1987.

Historically, there has been limited site access and low reliability at the station, so when a recent opportunity arose for the city to obtain additional property needed for the station, it opened up avenues to improve the site.

Post Falls acquired a temporary construction easement and made plans for the lift station replacement to significantly increase the size of the wet well, add overflow of the emergency storage area, replace the generator for backup power and make improvements to the odor control system.

Fleshman was happy to report the work wound up costing less than anticipated.

"Hopefully, it happens more," Jacobson quipped.
