Post Falls city councilor interviews take place next week

POST FALLS — City officials will conduct interviews for the final open City Council seat at 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at Post Falls City Hall. The open seat is to replace Josh Walker's position on the council.

Two seats became vacant on the council in late 2024 after former councilor Kenny Shove changed his address, followed by Walker stepping down from the position due to a new job.

Mayor Ron Jacobson stated at the Tuesday City Council meeting that the general rules were anyone who "had run for and been defeated in an election should not or would not be considered" for the open seat.

Jacobson said while examining candidate backgrounds, he tried to focus on candidates who hadn’t gone through committees or commissions in the city.

City officials will meet with potential candidates Jan. 16. The mayor will then propose a candidate. The City Council can confirm or reject a candidate.

There will not be a Post Falls council meeting until the first week of February.

City councilor candidate interviews are open to the public.
