Macy's to close Silver Lake Mall store

The Silver Lake Mall Macy's is targeted for closure, according to a Macy's press release Thursday.

It is one of 66 store closures that are part of Macy's "Bold New Chapter" strategy announced last year.

"We were disappointed to hear the news that Macy's has decided to leave Silver Lake," said Brian Knoll, general manager. "They were a big part of the shopping center for many years and they will be missed."

The Macy's store at the Silver Lake Mall is expected to close in the first quarter of this year. It survived a round of closures in 2021 and again last year. But not this time.

“Closing any store is never easy, but as part of our Bold New Chapter strategy, we are closing underproductive Macy’s stores to allow us to focus our resources and prioritize investments in our go–forward stores," said Tony Spring, chairman and chief executive officer of Macy’s, Inc.

Macy's still has one store in Idaho, which is in Boise.
