If snow falls today, holiday diamonds would be free

There's a chance it could snow several inches Friday at the Spokane International Airport.

Too bad, because it looks like it's a day late for Clark’s Diamond Jewelers in Coeur d'Alene and its Let It Snow campaign.

If it snows at least 4 inches at the airport today, purchases made at the jeweler at 307 Sherman Ave. through Dec. 28 will be free.

But chances are, it won't happen.

The National Weather Service pegs the chance of snow making an appearance at the airport as slim, with mostly cloudy conditions, with highs in the 30s and lows in the 20s.

The annual Let It Snow campaign at Clark's has proven popular, attracting hundreds of new and old customers hoping and praying for snow. Twice, the most recent in 2020, it has hit the mark. All told, more than three-quarters of a million dollars have been refunded based on purchases from less than $100 to several thousand dollars. Owner Jane Clark had high hopes it would hit again this time around.

“We've tried to get the best odds that we could get so we have a better chance of winning,” she said in a previous interview. “We really try to make it the most likely day and time. We want everybody to win.”
