PREP BOYS BASKETBALL: Connelly, Clemens lead Coeur du Christ past Bonners JV
COEUR d’ALENE — Ben Connelly scored 19 points and the Coeur du Christ Saints defeated the Bonners Ferry junior varsity for the second time in as many tries this season, this time 69-67 at Holy Family Catholic School on Monday.
Grant Clemens added 16 points for Coeur du Christ (5-4), which plays Immaculate Conception Academy of Post Falls on Friday at the HUB Sports Center in Liberty Lake.
Clemens sank 1 of 2 free throws with 6 seconds left to put the Saints up two, and the Badgers missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
"Good game," first-year Coeur du Christ coach Chris Kiefer said. "We played the bench for a good majority of the game. Most points from the bench we've ever had."
Coeur du Christ won 76-61 at Bonners on Dec. 19.
Jamison Cartwright-Kissee scored a game-high 29 points for the Bonners Ferry JV.
