Brooke and Damon Wood have been nominated for their work helping Lake City Playhouse thrive again after the theater took a turn.

Jessica Peterson of Lake City Playhouse nominated them both for their intense efforts.

"Lake City Playhouse would not currently exist without the hard work of both of them. I can't just nominate one of them!" Peterson remarked in an email.

Brooke has been volunteering at the theater for years, watching it go through countless changes and hardships.

"Her kids were practically raised in the building due to how involved she's been," Peterson said.

Damon's involvement has been shorter, but his contributions have been already significant, Peterson noted.

Over the last two years, as the fundraising manager, he has "completely changed the trajectory" for Lake City Playhouse, Peterson said.

"We were contemplating demolishing the building and selling the land, and Damon has raised enough funds and gotten enough donations that we were able to re-open this past July and continue with our 60th season that got paused in 2020 due to COVID and then delayed for three more years due to a catastrophic flood," Peterson said.
