Jeffery Scott Moss, 65

| January 5, 2025 1:00 AM

Jeffery Scott Moss, 65, most recently of Wells, Nev., died Dec. 22, 2024, at his home with his best friend, Abby, by his side.

Jeff was born at home in Brookings, Ore., on June 20, 1959, to Millie and SA Moss. He joined twin brothers Ron and Don and sister Karynne, who, like everyone else, was anticipating a girl child. No boy’s name had been picked, and Jeff had to wait three days for his name, which was finally purloined from the local newspaper.

Jeff married Robin E. Clover on March 15, 1994. She has always maintained that he fell in love with her children first but accepted she was part of the package. Robin and Jeff eventually divorced but remained sincere, loving friends for 32 years.

Jeff and Robin owned and operated the Handy Mart in Post Falls for several years before embarking on a two-year stint as acting manager of the Bananarama Dive Resort in Roatan, Honduras. Jeff would have stayed there forever had it been possible.

Jeff followed a possible employment promotion to Wells, Nev., seven years ago, and, when the job didn’t work out, everyone was surprised he elected to stay on in the small town. He was never a fan of the cold, snowy winters, but his generous spirit and outgoing personality garnered him a myriad of lasting friendships. Everyone knew him, and we, his family, find it very telling that, upon learning of his passing and the removal of his beloved dog, Abby, to the local shelter, a multitude of Wells residents called in asking to rescue her before Christmas.

Jeff is survived by his mother, Millie, son Jerome Moss (Stephanie), daughter Stephanie Seher (Jason), all of Post Falls, Idaho; and daughter Danielle Joliff-Nunes, Sebastopol, Calif.; his brothers Ron (Ruth), Don (Linda) and Bill (Terrie) Moss, as well as sister, Karynne Fleming, all of Post Falls, Idaho. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Hunter, Isabel and Raegan Moss. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, SA (Joe) Moss, a half-sister, Mary Letha Gates, and two half-brothers, George and Joey Moss.

A celebration of life is planned for spring.
