PREP WRESTLING: Vikings fourth after first day at Rollie Lane

NAMPA — Jordan Schield (138 pounds), Colton Tucker (150), Gabe Larsen (157) and Brock Armstrong (165) went 3-0 on the first day for Coeur d’Alene in the Rollie Lane Invitational at the Ford Idaho Center. 

Coeur d’Alene is fourth with 93 points after the first day.

"It’s a really tough tournament and we had a lot of tough matches early on today,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “But the kids competed really well. We had a lot of guys winning a lot of matches in the consolation rounds.”

In addition to four in the championship bracket, Coeur d’Alene has seven in the consolation round. 

“Overall, I thought we competed really hard,” Moffat said.  

Meridian leads the tournament with 107.5 points. 

Zach Teal (98) went unbeaten for Lakeland, which is 15th with 60 points. 

Ryker Allen (113) went unbeaten for Post Falls, which is 16th with 59 points. 

In the girls tournament, Coeur d’Alene’s Brooklyn Anderson (165) and Timberlake’s Shelby Garten (132) went unbeaten to advance to the quarterfinals today. 


Post Falls takes third

in Bracket B at The Clash

LA CROSSE, Wis. — Post Falls edged Zumbrota-Mazeppa High of Minnesota by a 7-6 total win tiebreaker to finish third in Bracket B of The Clash duals tournament at the La Crosse Center on Friday. 

Post Falls beat Menomonie (Wis.) 51-20 in a quarterfinal match, then fell 42-15 to Saint Pius X of Kansas City in the semifinals. 

Rider Seguine (139 pounds) and Seth Martin (189) went unbeaten on the day for Post Falls, which continues in the tournament today.
