PREP BOYS BASKETBALL: Trojans run past Eastmont
EAST WENATCHEE, Wash. — Locked in defensively, Post Falls didn’t look back after the first quarter, outscoring the host Eastmont Wildcats 19-7 in the second quarter of a 74-54 win in the GESA Winter Shootout on Friday at Eastmont HIgh.
Junior Jaxon Lysne scored 13 of his game-high 19 in the first quarter for Post Falls, which led 43-24 at halftime.
“We got them to turn it over a little bit and Jaxon did a good job of running his lanes,” Post Falls coach Mike McLean said. “He was able to finish at the basket and that was really good to see.”
Alex Dean scored 11 points for Post Falls (9-5), which closes out the tournament against Cheney today at 11 a.m. at Wenatchee High.
“We weren’t really happy with our effort in the first quarter,” McLean said. “We talked about it in between quarters and once we were more focused defensively, we kind of blew the game open from there. When we play at our level and where we expect to be, we played really well. We just need to work on being at our level for four quarters.”
Daniel Snyder scored 24 points for Eastmont (2-6).

“We forced them into some mistakes early on,” said Coeur d’Alene coach Jon Adams, whose team had not played since Dec. 21 at North Idaho College. “It had showed we’d been off for a littel bit and it took a while to get our timing down. Defensively, we started to get some things going and both Evan (Robertson) and Kai (Wheeler) were really active inside. Both Stockton (Montague) and Dylan Sutich gave us some valuable minutes and a spark off the bench and played really well.”
Wheeler had 13 points and eight rebounds and Max Riley five points, six rebounds, four steals and four blocks for Coeur d’Alene (8-4), which also got 15 points from Carter Rupp.
