• WRESTLING
MERIDIAN — All gas, no brakes.
For a start to the weekend, it was smooth sailing for Coeur d’Alene on Thursday.
The Vikings, keyed by six wins by pin, beat Rocky Mountain 50-22 in a tuneup dual for the annual Rollie Lane Invitational on Thursday at Rocky Mountain High.
Coeur d’Alene, which had been delayed due to a bus breakdown and weather in its previous four trips to Rollie, arrived early into Meridian for Thursday’s dual.
“We were able to get in a workout and came out and wrestled really well,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “I think we could have wrestled better, but I loved the mental toughness of our guys.”
Will Rossi (120 pounds), Dominic Prangley (138), Jordan Schield (144), Colton Tucker (157), Brock Armstrong (165) and Brett Myers (175) had pins for the Vikings, who compete in the Rollie Lane Invitational starting today at 8 a.m. PST at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa.
“It was a really good start to the weekend,” Moffat said. “Hopefully it’s a good sign of things to come.”
