It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Beverly 'Bev' Baslington, 87, on Dec. 30, 2024, at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, surrounded by her loving family. Bev was born June 21, 1937, in Worley, Idaho, to her parents, Cecil and Bernice (Rew) Dobler. She moved to Coeur d’Alene in the fourth grade, attending Central Elementary School and later becoming part of the first graduating class of the “new” Coeur d’Alene High School in 1955.

In December 1955, Bev married her high school sweetheart, Duane Baslington, beginning a lifelong journey of love and partnership. Together they welcomed two children and raised their family in Coeur d’Alene.

Bev pursued her passion for education and love for children, earning her teaching degree from Eastern Washington University in 1968. She dedicated her career to teaching second grade at Central and Sorensen Elementary, touching the lives of countless students with her kindness, patience and love of learning.

Her dedication to her family extended beyond her role as a mother and teacher. Bev spent many years caring for grandchildren and great-grandchildren, leaving an incredible mark on their lives. She also volunteered in school classrooms, sharing her time and talents to enrich the lives of others.

A woman of faith, Bev was a devoted member of the Community United Methodist Church and had been an active participant in the Bible Study Fellowship program. Her spiritual life was a guiding force, and she found great comfort and inspiration in her faith. In her leisure time, Bev was an avid reader. She also enjoyed sewing and shared her love for baking with her family. Bev’s warmth, generosity and unwavering love for her family and community will be deeply missed. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Bev is lovingly remembered by her husband of 69 years, Duane Baslington; two children, Debbie (Rick) Garnett and Dennis (Trish) Baslington; granddaughters Jennifer McInturff, Bree Baslington; grandson Eric Garnett and great-granddaughters: Kiley Clements, Adilyn Garnett, Madison and Hailey McInturff; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Rita Hanson, in 2023.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Jan. 3, 2025, at Forest Cemetery, 1011 N. Government Way, Coeur d’Alene. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Friends of the Coeur d’Alene Library Foundation (www.cdalibrary.org).
