| January 1, 2025 1:00 AM

Douglas David Hochberger peacefully went to his heavenly home Dec. 10, 2024. He was born Nov. 2, 1940, in Sumner, Iowa, to David and Joyce (Dawson) Hochberger and was the youngest of four siblings. David and Joyce owned and ran Hochberger Clover Farm Store and Gas Station in Aurora, Iowa. Doug graduated from Aurora High School in 1959. Shortly after, he moved with his family to Covina, Calif., where his parents retired.

In 1960, Doug began working as a lineman for General Telephone Electric in the San Fernando Valley. Doug met Constance Dieter, and they were married in 1963. Also in 1963, Doug enlisted in the Air Force Reserves and served as an airman until 1969, when he was honorably discharged.

Doug and Connie had three children while in California, then transferred to GTE in Moscow, Idaho, in 1976. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing, and they both enjoyed attending their kids’ various school sports competitions. Doug retired from GTE in 1992 as an outside planning engineer. He worked for GTE for four more years as an independent contractor. In his retirement, Doug enjoyed mowing fairways at the U of I golf course for the benefit of playing free golf. Doug and Connie moved to Coeur d’Alene in 2000 to be closer to children and grandchildren.

They attended Coeur d’Alene Bible Church and were involved in activities at the grandchildren’s schools. Connie passed away in 2007.

Doug is survived by his sons, Kent (Lynn) of Coeur d’Alene; Scott (Tiffany) of Coeur d’Alene; his daughter, Jennifer Stanton (Scott) of Spring, Texas; five granddaughters and four great-grandsons.

A small family memorial service will be held in the spring. Please visit Doug’s online memorial and guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
