Two vocalists have joined the faculty team at the Music Conservatory of Coeur d'Alene.

Elizabeth "Libby" Goodwin and Noah Lauer are recent graduates of Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, respected as one of the best music schools in the United States. They will be teaching private voice lessons and classes for several different ages. The couple will also be married in July in Coeur d'Alene.

Music Conservatory of Coeur d’Alene Artistic Director Kent Kimball said the conservatory is thrilled to welcome Goodwin and Lauer.

"I have personally known Libby since her high school days 10 years ago and have watched her grow into the excellent performer she is today," Kimball said in a Tuesday news release. "Both she and Noah bring an exceptional level of talent to our faculty and will enable us to provide this same level of vocal instruction and performance. We look forward to showcasing their vocal expertise in an upcoming performance at the Kroc Theater on April 6.”

Goodwin is a mezzo-soprano opera singer born and raised in Coeur d’Alene. She received a bachelor's in vocal performance from Jacobs. Goodwin studied with American mezzo-soprano Julia Bentley and world-renowned German baritone Wolfgang Brendel. She has performed numerous operatic roles. In addition to opera, she has been a featured soloist in major concert works such as Mendelssohn’s "Elijah," Bach’s "Mass in B Minor" and "Magnificat," also by Bach.

Her international experience includes intensive study in Urbino, Italy, where she trained under Metropolitan Opera singer Edward Crafts and engaged deeply with Italian music, history and language. She performed in historically significant venues across central Italy.

Lauer is a bass opera singer from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who recently completed his Master of Music Studies. An international performer, Lauer has sung in opera houses professionally throughout the United States, United Kingdom and Canada. Lauer has performed many leading bass opera roles including recent performances as Frère Laurent in "Roméo et Juliette" and Sarastro in "The Magic Flute." He has performed as a soloist for numerous masses, requiems, art songs and concert works.

As a voice educator, he is trained in and utilizes a healthy and resonant technique curated by educational lineage and validated by practical application and scientific research. He believes in the importance of informed expressivity for any style, and a technique with fundamentals that can be aided by the singer’s own sensory feedback.
