POST FALLS — After a decade of dedicated service as principal of Post Falls High School, Chris Sensel has announced his retirement, effective at the end of this school year.

Sensel’s leadership has been instrumental in shaping the school’s culture, prioritizing student achievement and enhancing safety measures, the Post Falls School District said in a Tuesday announcement. After an extensive search and interview process, Mark Mason, current principal at Post Falls Middle School, has been named as the new principal of Post Falls High School. He will assume the role this fall.

“Chris has been an exceptional leader for Post Falls High School, and his legacy is reflected in the positive impact he has had on our students, staff and community," Superintendent Dena Naccarato said in the news release.

Sensel said it has been an honor to work in the Post Falls School District for the past 29 years.

"The dedication to our students and our passion for teaching have been the driving force behind our success," he said in the announcement. “I am confident Post Falls High School will continue to thrive under new leadership."

Mason has been a dedicated member of the Post Falls School District for 17 years. He began his tenure as a middle school teacher and then served as assistant principal at Post Falls High School from 2014 to 2019.

In 2019, Mason transitioned to principal of Post Falls Middle School, where he has worked with his administrative team and teachers to increase student success, improve teacher retention and implement professional development initiatives across all disciplines.

Mason said he is excited to take the next step to being principal of Post Falls High School.

"Mr. Sensel has helped shape the lives of many students and staff over the years, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with him," he said.

Mason’s leadership style is characterized by his ability to inspire and empower others, the district said in the news release. His collaborative approach created a school culture that encouraged collective responsibility among staff, students and families.
