Apex predator found wrapped in tarp — without head or tail, Montana game warden says
Game wardens are investigating after an apex predator was found wrapped in a tarp along a Montana roadway — without a head or tail, officials said.
The dead mountain lion was found near mile marker three on the Troy Mine Road south of Troy in the northwestern corner of the state, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks said in a Feb. 25 news release.
“Its head and tail had been removed,” officials said in the release.
The agency asks anyone with information to call Warden Sawyer Johnson at 406-291-6539. Callers could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000. Troy is about a 180-mile drive northwest from Missoula.
