T. Ryan Turrell Jr., 48

Staff Sgt. Timothy Ryan Turrell Jr. passed away unexpectedly Feb. 12, 2025. Ryan was 48 years old and born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to parents Tim R. Turrell Sr. and Lynda Monaghan.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lynda Monaghan Dunham (Kelly), grandparents Herbert and Marian Turrell, William (Bill) and Alice Monaghan Sr., and uncles William (Cindy) Monaghan and Michael Monaghan. He is survived by his children, Trenton (Anarenee) Turrell and Rylie (Austin) Wilson, and granddaughters Tinlie and Harper Wilson, Weatherford, Texas, former wife Julie (Cynthia) Duvall Dawson, sisters Hilary (Brett) Heller, Talitha (Rob) Dixon and Sarah McIntyree, brother Erik (Diana) Turrell and Nate King, his father, Tim R. Turrell Sr. (Peggy), uncles Terry, Tom (Candice) and Tracy (Lynda) Turrell and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
T. Ryan attended schools in Coeur d’Alene, including Coeur d’Alene High School. In school, Ryan met his lifelong friend, Judd Gridley, and together, he later joined a Combat Engineer unit out of Spokane, Wash. At that time, he met his future wife, Julie, and they later moved to Texas, where she was from. Ryan stayed in combat engineer units there and enlisted in active duty in 2000-2007. After being discharged, he worked for Schlumberger in the oil fields of Oklahoma and Texas, fracking. He eventually re-enlisted with a special Texas National Guard unit and did human intelligence work in his many deployments to Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Jordan, Syria and other unknown assignments.
All his family and friends will sorely miss him: Godspeed, my son.
Over the past few years, Ryan struggled with Crohn's disease and PTSD.
A memorial service for family and friends is planned for Saturday, March 1, at the Post Falls American Legion, 1138 E. Poleline Ave., Post Falls, Idaho. 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., honor guard promptly at 11:30 a.m.
