Gerald Petersen, 87

Gerald W. Petersen passed away Jan. 27, 2025.  He was born Feb. 20, 1937, to William Bernard Petersen and Rosalie Josephine (Frost) Petersen in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

He was happy to have grown up in the Fort Grounds area in Cd'A. In fact, he lived most of his life in the same home on Forest Drive from 1940 to 2007. Jerry attended Sherman Grade School, Cd'A Jr. High, and completed Coeur d’Alene High School in 1955. He enjoyed being part of the CHS varsity basketball team for several years. He went to North Idaho Jr. College in 1956. Jerry was in the U.S. Army and stationed in Panama from 1960 to 1962. Jerry worked for the U.S. Forestry Department for 37 years in Cd'A, Idaho, and Hebo, Ore.

Jerry was a lifetime member of St. Thomas and St. Pius Catholic Churches. He enjoyed gardening, dancing and spending time with his many friends.

He is survived by his brother, James Petersen, sister-in-law Dianna Peterson, and girlfriend Barbara Cooley.

The service will be a Memorial mass at St. Pius Catholic Church on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11 a.m. The reception and internment will also be at St. Pius Catholic Church. Please view and sign Gerald's online guestbook at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
