All Joann Fabric stores to be closed
The Joann fabric and crafts store at the Silver Lake Mall will be closed, it was announced Sunday.
According to a press release from Joann, GA Group and the Prepetition Term Loan Agent were selected as the winning bidder to acquire Joann's assets.
"In connection with this agreement, subject to Bankruptcy Court approval of the transaction, the winning bidders plan to begin winding down the Company's operations and conduct going-out-of-business sales at all store locations," the release said.
Joann announced about 10 days ago that as part of the ongoing Chapter 11 process, it filed a motion seeking court authority to begin closing about 500 stores across the nation. It included two stores in Idaho, one each in Boise and Moscow, and 15 in Oregon.
"We are very disappointed to learn of Joann's decision to close all of their remaining stores. They will be missed in our community," said mall manager Brian Knoll.
Joann filed for bankruptcy in March 2024. It has more than 800 stores across the country.
But Sunday, Joann said a new ownership group planned to close all stores. Most of the closing Joann stores are expected to remain open until the end of May.
The Silver Lake Mall store opened in 2013 and has been an anchor tenant, attracting a loyal clientele of crafters. Joann Fabrics had previously operated on Fourth Street next to Safeway in midtown Coeur d'Alene.
"We deeply appreciate our dedicated Team Members, our customers and communities across the nation for their unwavering support for more than 80 years," the release said.
Macy's is also closing at the Silver Lake Mall.
