Thursday evening activities canceled at Timberlake due to smoke

SPIRIT LAKE — Smoke was reported in a classroom at Timberlake High School on Thursday afternoon, leading school officials to cancel evening activities.

Superintendent Lisa Arnold told The Press there was no fire, but electricians were on site investigating smoke from a light switch.

Timberlake Principal Ryne Eberlin shared this message with families early Thursday evening informing them of smoke being reported around 2:30 p.m.

"Local fire departments responded to THS and students and staff were evacuated to the middle school gym. Our local fire departments are still investigating and we appreciate their time and diligence to the situation. Because the fire department is still actively working in the building, we have canceled all nighttime activities at Timberlake High School."

Eberlin said in the message he would update families regarding school today.
