DISTRICT GIRLS WRESTLING: Lake City's Johnson repeats as district champion ... Brown, Anderson, Garten claim first district titles
MOSCOW – Lake City High senior Alexxis Johnson claimed her second-straight district title, beating Sandpoint’s Emma Garman in the 120-pound final in the District 1-2 tournament on Wednesday at Bear Den.
Johnson also beat Garman in the 120-pound final in the 2024 tournament at Timberlake High.
Timberlake junior Shelby Garten improved to 43-1 on the season, pinning Post Falls junior Emma Younger in 1:17 for the 126-pound title.
Post Falls freshman Kahli Brown pinned Potlatch senior Shelby Prather in 1:37 in the 132-pound final.
“She’s just been getting better each time she steps on the line,” Post Falls assistant coach Luke Roberts said of Brown. “She’s really athletic and dynamic. She’s one that puts in the work during the offseason and it’s fun to see those kind of matches paying off for her.”
Coeur d’Alene junior Brooklyn Anderson pinned Sandpoint senior Sylvia Becker in 3:39 for the 165-pound title.
The top two finishers in each weight class, with a wild card available, advance to the state tournament next Friday and Saturday at the ICCU Dome in Pocatello.
