SPIRIT LAKE — Smoke was reported in a classroom at Timberlake High School this afternoon, leading school officials to cancel evening activities.
Superintendent Lisa Arnold told The Press there was no fire, but electricians were investigating smoke from a light switch.
Timberlake Principal Ryne Eberlin shared this message with families early this evening:
"Around 2:30 today, we had a report of smoke in a classroom. Local fire departments responded to THS and students and staff were evacuated to the middle school gym. Our local fire departments are still investigating and we appreciate their time and diligence to the situation. Because the fire department is still actively working in the building, we have canceled all nighttime activities at Timberlake High School.
"Once the fire department completes their investigation, I will update our families regarding school tomorrow."
