EVENTS: Thanks for the reminder

This is in response to Richard and Jana Flores’ letter to the editor on Feb. 14 regarding the advance promotion of community events in the newspaper. Thank you for reminding me of something that had been a regular feature of my weekly Main Street column for years.

When the pandemic happened in early 2020 and throughout most of 2021, many events were canceled or rescheduled with little notice. Often what was published in my Wednesday column would be canceled. So in 2021 I simply dropped the What’s Happening highlights out of frustration.

I’ll make an effort now to include a sampling of upcoming events in our communities each week. If you’re not a Main Street reader, look for it on the front page of the Local section every Wednesday.
