Gonzaga's Ejim added to

Naismith Award Watch List

Gonzaga senior Yvonne Ejim was named to the Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year midseason watch list, one of 30 players named to the list.

Ejim has been rewriting the history books this season. In the second quarter of the game on Feb. 6, she scored her 2,157 point to become the new scoring leader in Gonzaga women's basketball history. She broke Heather Bowman's record of 2,156 points scored from 2006-10. She also broke the record for most rebounds in a career on Jan. 18. Overall, she now holds the records for most points, rebounds and field goals in a career at Gonzaga.

Ejim has recorded 36 double doubles in her career and 11 this year alone. She has scored double digits in 67-straight games with her last single digit scoring effort back on Feb. 16, 2023. She also currently ranks seventh in the nation in scoring with 535 points this season. On Jan. 30, Ejim became the first WCC women's basketball player to eclipse 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.

She was also named as one of 10 semifinalists for the Becky Hammond Player of the Year presented by Her Hoop Stats.

The Becky Hammon Award was first given out in 2020, with South Dakota's Ciara Duffy being named the inaugural winner. Ejim won the most recent award in 2024.
This year's semifinalists include representatives from 10 teams and seven conferences. Two conferences — the A-10 and Missouri Valley— have multiple representatives on the list. The A-10 becomes the first conference to have three semifinalists in the same season. Ejim becomes the first player to be named a semifinalist three times.
