Post Falls police: Arrests made in check fraud case with more than 50 victims
POST FALLS – Post Falls Police announced Tuesday that two arrests have been made in connection with check frauds and mail theft involving more than 50 victims throughout the region.
Officers were dispatched to a report of a truck blocking a lane of travel on Seltice Way at Herborn Place on Jan. 31 when a male driver and female passenger were found to both be asleep while stopped at a red light, according to police.
A passerby woke them up and told them to pull over into a parking lot to sleep, but instead, they drove away, the release states.
Within minutes, an officer located the truck and conducted a traffic stop. A K-9 alerted to the vehicle and a subsequent search resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine paraphernalia, police said.
During the search, officers say they also located dozens of forged checks and many pieces of mail which did not belong to the occupants of the truck. The driver of the truck allegedly provided officers with a false name, but officers used his visible tattoos to notice the discrepancy and ascertain his real identity, the release states.
Joshua Krueger and Christina Morlan are both from Spokane and were arrested on multiple charges.
Krueger was arrested and booked for providing false information to law enforcement, possession of fraudulent checks, criminal conspiracy and possession of stolen property.
Morlan was arrested and booked for possession of fraudulent checks, criminal conspiracy, possession of stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
PFPD stated that the investigation is ongoing and additional charges from their department as well as other law enforcement agencies are likely.
