Volunteers needed for 'Healthy Hayden Creek' reclamation initiative

| April 27, 2025 1:00 AM

HAYDEN LAKE — The Hayden Lake Watershed Association is seeking volunteers for "Healthy Hayden Creek," slated for Saturday, May 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The day's activities will help reclaim a neglected patch of land that has negatively impacted water quality in Hayden Creek, the major tributary of Hayden Lake, a press release said.

Volunteers will plant, stake and set up protections for up to 250 large seedlings. There will also be educational activities for children and refreshments for the volunteers.

The event is part of an initiative of the Hayden Lake Watershed Association in collaboration with the Watershed Improvement District, the U.S. Forest Service and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality.

The planting event will take place at the confluence of Ohio Match Road and FSR 437. It is recommended that volunteers go north on Rimrock Road to Ohio Match Road and turn east (right). Access via FSR 437 is discouraged due to adverse road conditions.
