YATES: Father's farewell was truly meaningful

On behalf of my entire family, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Yates Funeral Home, especially to Sarah, our wonderful funeral director,r for their kindness, guidance and support following the recent passing of my father. Travis and Lehanna of Yates were also with us during the ceremony and took care of all the details. Their compassionate care during a difficult time was appreciated. As a proud Marine, my father was honored with a full Military Burial — a tribute that meant the world to us.

We are especially grateful to the members of the American Legion who volunteered their time and stood in the cold and rain to provide a touching Military Honors service. The sound of Taps, the rifle salute and the flag presentation were incredibly moving,  a moment our family will never forget.

We were also deeply touched to see some young Marines participate in the service. I wish I knew their names so I could thank them personally. Their presence was a powerful reminder of the bond and respect shared among all Marines, past and present.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your service, your dedication and the care you showed our family. You made my father’s farewell truly meaningful and honored his life in a way that brought us comfort and pride.
