PREP ROUNDUP: Timberlake takes down Orofino

SPIRIT LAKE — Shae Jones hit a three-run home run in the second inning and Marissa Needs hit a three-run shot in the third, leading the Timberlake Tigers past the Orofino Maniacs 12-1 in a nonleague game at Timberlake High. 

Jones allowed two hits and struck out 12 and Sadie Green and Alannah Winland drove in two runs each for Timberlake (11-2), which travels to Bonners Ferry for a doubleheader on Friday. 

"We played a really great game today," Timberlake coach Casi Lupinacci said. "Our team came out with intensity and urgency at the plate. Everyone had great at-bats and we were able to score runs behind a great outing by Shae on the mound."

Orofino (10-7) travels to Kellogg for a doubleheader on Friday.

GRANGEVILLE — Kam McDonald scored on a passed ball in the first inning for the Wildcats, but a seven-run bottom of the third was the difference in a Central Idaho League loss to the Bulldogs. 

Siena Wagner and Maddison Harris had three RBIs each for Grangeville (11-8, 8-2). 

Kellogg (3-12, 3-7) hosts Orofino in a doubleheader on Friday at Kellogg Middle School.
