Carl Elliot Nixon, 87

On Dec. 27, 1937, Carl was born to Ike Oliver and Zyner Alice Nixon in Austin, Texas. Carl was raised in California with 10 brothers and sisters. He never graduated. Having met on a double date in Selma, Calif., Carl and Sandra were married July 17, 1959. They welcomed their only daughter, Marva, and eventually moved to Idaho in 2003.
Carl was always surrounded by friends and family and told many great stories of his life and rodeo. He loved going on fishing trips with his grandkids and was a wonderful grandpa, great-grandpa, great-great-grandpa and a devoted husband. He was a skillful oil painter who enjoyed painting pictures of western life and roping.
Carl is survived by his wife, Sandra; daughter Marva Nixon; three grandchildren: Ryan Randall (Wanda), Taylor Gilbert (Noah) and Elliott Poe; five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Known to all as Grandpa Carl and Papa, he was very loved by his friends and family. We love and miss you very much.
