ENDORSEMENT: Vote for Lippert

| April 20, 2025 1:00 AM

I feel it is my duty as a citizen of this community to endorse a candidate that I feel strongly about: Michelle Lippert.

I am a mom of five school-aged children — the library has been an integral part of their childhood. We can be found in one of the libraries within the CLN every day of the week in the summer and once a week during the school year. I am and will always be an advocate for our library system — it supports our entire community, which has a vast array of needs to consider.

Here in Idaho, we value our freedoms and are resistant to anybody “telling us what to do,” but when it comes to the library trustee candidate, that is exactly what we are up against. Michelle is committed to building community support as well as restoring our rights as parents. I am extremely concerned about the direction the library network is heading down. It offends and enrages me that my intelligence as a parent is questioned and somebody else is deciding what is appropriate for my children to read.

In addition, the library hours have been so difficult for us to navigate. I barely have time to get to the library in the evenings before it closes, not to mention that it is entirely closed on Sundays — which is inconvenient for me, but could have dire consequences for other patrons that rely on the library for support.

I urge our community to please vote for Michelle Lippert. She LISTENS to what we have to say and wants the library to fulfill its purpose in our community.
