Mary J. Todd, 98
Mary Jane Todd
March 28, 1927 — April 13, 2025
Mary J. Todd passed away peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, April 13, 2025, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, at the age of 98, with her daughters, Cass and Margaret, in attendance.
She is survived by her daughters, Margaret L. Walmer of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Cass Nevada of Seattle, Wash.; and June Lund of Chehalis, Wash.; as well as by her grandson, Jake Peters of Forks, Wash., and granddaughter Shannon Magee of Texas, great grandchildren Caleb, Rian and Fynlie Peters, Nicole Hamouch, Sarah Hamouch and Emily Pelonter. Daughter Susan Hay of Brownsville, Texas, preceded her in death in 2019.
Mary lived a long, healthy and full life in Long Beach, Calif., and Oak Harbor, Wash., where she lived for over 40 years. In the last few years, she moved to Coeur d’Alene to be closer to her daughter, Margaret. She was curious and engaged with the world, enjoying world travel, reading, chess, history and many other pursuits. She worked for many years as an administrative assistant in the Education Department at the University of Washington — a role that matched her intellect and attention to detail.
She was married to John V. Walmer and later to Harold C. Todd. In her final years, she found warm, loving companionship with Dick Murray. Of all the places she traveled, her favorite by far was Iceland, which she visited with her daughter, Margaret, returning a second time with Dick for a depth treasured visit.
Mary found friendship and meaning in the Unity Church community of North Idaho. She is deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
