Larry Polzin, 86
In loving memory of Larry Polzin, a cherished husband, devoted father, proud grandfather and beloved great-grandfather who touched the lives of many, not only in his family but also in his community.
Larry peacefully passed April 11, 2025, at the age of 86.
Born and raised in Illinois, Larry was an Evans Scholar and attended Michigan State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. In 1959, he married his wife, Grace, with whom he shared his life for 64 years until her passing in 2023.
In the late 1960s, Larry loaded up the family in an Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser and made the journey to Southern California.
He had a long career in the computer field as a programmer and system analyst working for well-known companies such as IBM and Capital Records. He even spent some time overseas, working in Algeria. After he retired from his last job with the Encinitas School District, he moved to Rathdrum, Idaho, in 2011.
Larry is survived by his four children: Larry and his wife, Carie, of Eagle, Idaho; Laurie and her husband, Tim, of Eagle, Idaho; Lance of Rathdrum, Idaho; and Lee and his wife, Sarah, of Tucson, Ariz.
Larry has three grandchildren, Roark and Petra of Tucson, Ariz., and Lindsey and her husband, Jordan, who reside in Boise, Idaho, with Larry's great-grandchildren, Lottie and Stevie.
Larry always strived for excellence in his life — never quitting, always achieving and guiding those around him to be their best. He never lost his love of learning, as evidenced by a broad and massive collection of books and magazines.
We will truly miss you, Dad, Pa.
