Show runs through May 3 at Kroc Center
When it opened on Broadway in 1950 and ran for 1,200 performances, "Guys and Dolls" received nearly unanimous positive reviews from critics and won a bevy of awards, including Tony Awards, Drama Desks and Oliviers.
Set in Damon Runyon's mythical New York City, "Guys and Dolls" is an oddball romantic comedy that takes audience members from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, Cuba and even into the sewers of the Big Apple. Eventually, everyone ends up right where they belong.
Many consider "Guys and Dolls" to be the perfect musical comedy, community theater Aspire said in a recent news release.
Aspire will bring the story, the laughter and the beloved dance sequences of "Guys and Dolls" to life when the production opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the Midge and Pepper Smock Family Theatre at the Kroc.
The show features Frank Loesser's brassy, immortal score, with a well-written book by Abe Burrows and Jo Swerling.
"Guys and Dolls" is the third offering of Aspire's eighth season. The production will be performed under the direction of Thomas Gandy, Aspire's resident Music Director Presley DuPuis and choreographer Paisley Siemens.
Tickets range from $15-$28. The show runs through May 3.
Aspire presents four shows of musical theater every year at its home venue, the Midge and Pepper Smock Family Theatre at the Kroc, nestled within the Salvation Army Kroc Center in Coeur d'Alene.
