POST FALLS — A $2.5 million water project aimed at improving water reliability in the Pine Villa Estates neighborhood near Ponderosa Elementary School is nearing completion of the design phase.

Post Falls project manager Jaxon Fleshman presented a preview of the upcoming Westwood water distribution project during a City Council meeting Tuesday.

The water project is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to replace aging, high-maintenance infrastructure as part of Post Falls' 2018 water system master plan.

Phase 1 of the Westwood project includes the replacement of about 5,680 feet of water main pipe, along with service and meter replacements.

Construction documents expected to be bid-ready by spring 2025, and staff are coordinating closely across departments to ensure the project is timed to minimize disruptions.

Because of its proximity to Ponderosa Elementary, coordinating the school's summer schedule and neighborhood access and safety is a key priority for the project.
