PUBLIC LANDS: Shouldn’t be sold

| April 16, 2025 1:00 AM

Alert! Pres. Trump plans to sell off public lands. Down in the Boise area, this happened when a couple of millionaire Texas brothers bought a huge chunk of forest land and closed it off to people who had been hunting, hiking, fishing and traveling through those lands.

If you love to hike, ride your bike on trails, fish, camp, hunt, or whatever on public lands, you need to pay attention. If these are sold, those lands will be in private hands and the “No Trespassing’” signs will go up.

Idaho Representative Mike Simpson has a bill that would save public lands for the public so these lands can’t be sold.

Please let Rep. Simpson know your feelings on this issue. Go to State of Idaho website, scroll down to ‘Elected Officials,” down to Rep Mike Simpson, and over on the top right to ‘contact me’ and ‘Email me” and fill in the form and let Rep Simpson know how important public lands are to Idahoans. You can write to Rep Simpson at 802 W. Bannock, Ste 600., Boise, ID 83702, or contact his local office. You may also call him on the phone number on the bottom of his website.

These lands are not only precious for us to use but they bring in millions in out of state money to the state of Idaho for fishing and hunting licenses, recreation around the lakes and rivers, and for camping, hiking, biking and skiing.
