EMBARRASSED: To be an American

| April 16, 2025 1:00 AM

Regarding Gil Beyer’s letter published April 11. Gil and I have at least a couple of things in common. I spend 23 years in the Navy. And I too am embarrassed to be an American. Embarrassed that women/girls are forced to compete in sports (and the locker room) with biological males. Embarrassed that our government had allowed tens of millions of illegal aliens to enter our country taking three times as much as they contribute to our economy (per a recent Yale study). Embarrassed that for scores of years our country has become bloated, overstaffed, filled with graft, etc., so much so that it is considered “normative behavior.” Embarrassed that for decades we’ve allowed other countries to take advantage of us through unfair tariffs. As far as Mexico and Canada. I’m not embarrassed that we have had to impose tariffs in an attempt stop illegal migration, their unfair tariffs and drug flow.

And I am embarrassed for the writer of the reference letter. His hatred for our president refuses to even partially acknowledge that Trump actions are necessary and are already having a positive effect on many of ills I’ve listed.
