Mood Music Management workshops coming up April 26, May 3

| April 11, 2025 1:00 AM

The Coeur d'Alene Symphony Orchestra is collaborating with Music4Life to present Mood Music Management: Six Empowerment Habits, a free two-part workshop series designed to harness the transformative power of music.

Led by nationally recognized music therapist Judith Pinkerton, these workshops aim to equip participants with practical tools to navigate life’s challenges through music therapy.

Guests will have two opportunities to attend from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 26 or May 3 in-person or virtual. The in-person event will be at the Canopy Village Family Support Center, 1350 W. Hanley Ave., Coeur d’Alene.

Participants will explore the role of music in emotional well-being, answering key questions such as:

• How do six goals transform habits?
• What music divides or heals?
• Where does mood music work best?
• When does music influence the body?
• Why is an emotional profile essential?

Through 30 therapeutic activities, guided by Coeur d'Alene Symphony Orchestra musicians and expert facilitators, attendees will learn to manage stress, build resilience and break free from chronic comfort zone that contribute to struggles with violence, addiction and mental health crises.

Pinkerton has dedicated over three decades to clinical music therapy, working with clients in addiction recovery, oncology, elder care, foster programs and mental health settings. Her patented music app, Key2MEE at themusic4life.com, and her latest book, "Thriving Through Adversity: Prescriptive Playlists to Reclaim Joy, Peace and Purpose in Life," offer continued support beyond the workshop.

With mental health challenges and substance abuse rates in Kootenai County surpassing state and national averages, the Coeur d'Alene Symphony Orchestra recognizes the urgent need for innovative solutions. Funded by an Innovia Foundation grant, these workshops reflect Coeur d'Alene Symphony Orchestra's commitment to healing through music and community empowerment.

The workshops are free, but space is limited. Register at cdasymphony.org/Music4Life for in-person or virtual seats. Participants will provide their name, age range, contact details and preferred music genre to personalize their experiences.
