Pamela Rae Smith, 77
On Thursday, March 20, 2025, Pamela Rae Smith entered the presence of the Lord after celebrating her 77th birthday. Born on Feb. 28, 1948, to Agnes and Leonard Rehard, she called Coeur d’Alene home for the entirety of her life. As a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and devoted follower of Christ, Pam will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
At 19 years old, she married Robert Landis Smith. Together, they raised two children, adopted many pets, spent countless hours outdoors and celebrated as many occasions as possible with their friends. She was excited to join her husband again after his passing over four years ago.
Throughout her 40-year career at Verizon (previously GTE Corporation), Pam worked her way up from a telephone operator to a developmental engineer.
Pam always held a strong affinity for playing games. It never mattered whether she needed cards, dice, boards or the television; she enjoyed spending time with her loved ones by playing as many rounds as she could. She was the greatest partner or the sharpest adversary.
She passed this penchant down to her daughter and grandchildren, who all spent countless hours challenging her.
Evident by a home filled top to bottom with bunny trinkets, Pam loved many animals. She especially cared for small dogs and cats. Whether they were her own pets or belonged to family, friends, or acquaintances, Pam never passed up the opportunity for a pet or a kiss. She was as fond of them as they were of her.
Pam is survived by her daughter, Michelle Hull of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; son Robert “Denny” Smith of Snohomish, Wash.; as well as her four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life is to be held in November in Coeur d’Alene.
