NIC SOFTBALL: Cardinals swept by first-place CSI
COEUR d’ALENE — First-place College of Southern Idaho hit six home runs, three in each game, in sweeping North Idaho College 6-1 and 6-3 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play Sunday at Lake City High.
Megan Nelson had three hits on the day for NIC (15-19, 7-13 SWAC), which won the series opener before dropping the final three games.
Lily Heitz hit a two-run homer in the first game for CSI (24-13, 17-3) and a solo shot in the second game.
Ava Howell hit a two-run homer in the second game for the Golden Eagles, who had just four hits, but three left the yard. CSI drew 12 walks in the nightcap.
NIC, in fourth place in the six-team league, travels to third-place Snow (14-21, 9-11) for SWAC doubleheaders Friday and Saturday.
