Live opera on Sunday at Harding Center

| April 5, 2025 1:00 AM

Live opera is coming back to Coeur d’Alene.

Inland Northwest Opera, which began in Coeur d’Alene 20 years ago, is restarting after a two-year hiatus with arias and hors d’oeuvres at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Harding Center.

“Reforming a closed company is a lot like descending into the underworld with nothing to guide us but the magic of music," said Mike Bullard, chair of the reorganized board.

Bullard said the new INO has no paid administrative staff and is keeping business simple to focus donations toward singers and shows.

Sunday's event will feature announcing a full mainstage opera production coming next year, and will introduce director Stephen Gordon, also an internationally recognized performer.

The effort to reorganize Inland Northwest Opera is being called "The Pamina Project" because of similarities with the quest for Pamina in the opera Magic Flute, a press release said.

Music on Sunday will include arias from the opera Magic Flute and other musical eras.
