Horse riding through Leisure Park 40 years ago

Hayden resident Virginia Grove used to enjoy riding her horse around town, including through neighborhoods that were once fields and meadows. 

She submitted a photo of one such adventure taken in 1985 when she rode her horse through what is now Leisure Park off Ramsey Road in Hayden.

"That's Canfield Mountain in the background," Grove said. "Back then, there were many places to ride from my home on Orchard Avenue. I even once rode to the top of Canfield ... those days are gone. Aaahhh ... the good ol' days."

She said she shared the photo to show how the landscape has changed around her home.

"I moved here from the East Coast in 1978," she said. "I still live in my small home on Orchard Avenue surrounded by large new homes, but it is still my little slice of paradise. Even with all the changes I still love it here in beautiful North Idaho."
