Idaho Senate passed further DEI limitations in higher education
BOISE — The Senate in a lengthy evening debate Monday passed sweeping bans on DEI in required courses, hiring, admissions and training in Idaho public higher education institutions.
Sen. Ben Toews, R-Coeur d’Alene, called DEI “divisive” with a goal of “suppressing the truth.” He said that universities were using the ideology to “indoctrinate” students.
Senators debated for nearly an hour, ending around 7 p.m., before voting 27-8 to pass Senate Bill 1198.
