Dorothy 'Elaine' Brownsberger, 89
Dorothy "Elaine" Brownsberger was born April 14, 1935, in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan, Canada. She grew up and went to school in Olds, Alberta. When Elaine was 17, she went to work for a bank in Camrose, Alberta. While working at the bank, she met her future husband, Bruce Brownsberger, who was working in the area. While Elaine cashed Bruce's checks, she always maintained she did not marry him for his money! The couple was united in marriage Oct. 1, 1954, in Calgary, Alberta. Their union was blessed with six children: twins Brian and Brent, Debra, Kelvin, Carol and Lyle. They were married for 67 wonderful years. Bruce's career eventually brought the family to the States, where they settled in Butte, Montana. After a year's stay in Butte, they relocated to Coeur d'Alene. The couple made their home in Dalton Gardens and Hayden, where they raised their family. Elaine was a stay-at-home mom. Once most of the kids were on their own, Elaine embarked on her career. Elaine eventually went to work for Kootenai Health, from which she retired in 2004. Elaine, Bruce and family spent many memorable years living and working in Banff National Park. After retirement, Elaine and Bruce enjoyed RVing and traveled all over the western United States and Canada. Elaine especially enjoyed time spent with her family and friends.
On Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025, at the age of 89, Elaine died peacefully, surrounded by her family. Elaine is lovingly remembered by her five children and their spouses: Brent and Connie, Debbie and Bob Strailman, Kelvin and Vera, Carol Ferris, and Lyle and Jacqueline, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren for whom she had great affection.
