Street signs damaged after crash near roundabout by Post Falls High School

Several road signs were damaged after a vehicle was driven into the median of the Cecil Road and Poleline Avenue roundabout Thursday morning.
POST FALLS — Several street signs are damaged following an incident at the Cecil Road and Poleline Avenue roundabout near Post Falls High School on Thursday morning.
Post Falls City Police Department responded to a white Chevy Tahoe that had driven onto the median at 9:46 a.m. Thursday morning, according to Sargeant Pat Eismann with PFPD.
The driver, an adult female, was detained at the scene and the vehicle was searched. While some evidence of inhalant use was discovered in the vehicle, there was not enough evidence to arrest the driver, said Eismann. She was instead issued a citation for inattentive driving.
While there were no injuries, several street signs were damaged by the Tahoe, including the Cecil Road and school crossing signs.
This incident comes after a high school pedestrian was hit by a car in the same roundabout earlier this month.
Some community members have raised concerns about the safety of the busy intersection, particularly because of its proximity to the high school.
Following Thursday’s incident, PFPD reiterated its commitment to enforcing safe driving in the Cecil and Poleline roundabout as well as other busy roads within school zones.
PFPD is “very aggressively patrolling school zones, particularly by the high school,” Eismann said.
